Zion Wildfire Grows To 24 Acres
(Springdale, UT) — The wildfire in Zion National Park is growing in size. Utah Fire Info says the blaze grew to 24 acres as of yesterday afternoon and crews didn’t report any containment. Officials explained a local resident reported the blaze Wednesday afternoon and it led to the closure of Hop Valley Trail. It has been dubbed the Kolob Terrace Fire and about 40 wildland firefighters are working to put out the flames.

TOOELE, Utah — Multiple Tooele power outages have residents complaining. However, Rocky Mountain Power says there’s a good reason behind them. The power outages have been on purpose according to Jona Whitesides of Rocky Mountain Power. It’s part of an effort to harden the power lines by wrapping the poles with flame resistant fabric, replacing wooden poles with steel towers and powering down lines when weather or wildfire threats are detected.
Ohio man arrested in Cedar City for allegedly kidnapping a California girl
CEDAR CITY — An Ohio man was found Wednesday at a Cedar City gas station with a California teen who had been reported kidnapped. Ryan Gray Patch, 27, of Ohio, was booked into the Iron County Jail on suspicion of felony charges of aggravated kidnapping, endangerment of a child, and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana/spice and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the police affidavit.

Arbor Day is one of the world’s largest nonprofit conservation organizations dedicated to planting trees. First celebrated in 1872, it was established as a way to encourage farmers and homesteaders to plant trees that would provide shade, shelter, food, fuel and beauty to open area.
