Suspect identified following standoff near Pinedale Elementary
RAPID CITY, S.D. - An armed suspect has been apprehended by police following a seven-hour standoff near Pinedale Heights. At about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, law enforcement received reports of gunshots in the area of 5200 Pinedale Circle. The person responsible for the gunshots barricaded himself inside a nearby residence.
Petition effort to put Vision Fund on November ballot fails signature requirement
RAPID CITY, S.D. - A petition effort to place the Rapid City Vision Fund to the November ballot failed to meet the required number of signatures needed. Officials with the City of Rapid City reported that the petition received 2,975 signatures by the July 12 deadline. However, 479 petition signatures were invalidated due to violations of various state statues and administrative rules governing petitions.

Names Released in Lincoln County Fatal Crash
South Dakota authorities have identified the two people involved in a fatal crash last Friday morning in Lincoln County. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says around 5:30 am, 28 year old Darrian O’Neal Cline of Smithville, Oklahoma was driving a Jeep Cherokee eastbound on 294th Street near 474th Avenue. At the same time, 74 year old Michael D. Stinton of LeMars, Iowa was driving a Volvo semi westbound on 294th Street. For an unknown reason, the Jeep crossed the center line into the westbound lanes and struck the semi head on.
