Downtown Davenport businesses host supply drive for Iowa communities affected by flood
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Businesses on Motor Row have come together to help out communities in Northwestern Iowa that have been devastated by floods. The businesses on Motor Row say there are open despite Davenport’s own flooding and the closure of River Drive. They ask if you come to shop over the holiday weekend that you consider bringing what you are able to give to be delivered to the affected towns.
Cuddle pets at King’s Harvest Pet Rescue
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - King’s Harvest Pet Rescue is still hosting it’s Cuddle and Comfort event on Wednesday, despite the rescheduling of Red, White and Boom!. The event, which is from 9 to 10:30p.m. helps comfort animals during the firework celebration, assistant director Julia Velacquez said. Lots of pets and animals, she said, are scared of fireworks and the loud noises.

Fireworks pose a very real risk to your eyesight
An eye doctor who serves northeast Iowa dreads being on call during the Fourth of July, as she says there’s always a case of someone being blinded by fireworks. Dr. Anna Kitzmann, an ophthalmologist with Gundersen Health in Decorah, says fireworks can cause devastating injuries to the hands, face and especially to the eyes.

Iowa State plays Iowa every year -- the COVID season was an exception -- and is 1-6 against the rival under Campbell. That includes a loss last season, but last season also included a loss to Ohio to go alongside 2020's head-scratcher against Louisiana-Lafayette.
