The family of a 26-year-old Reston woman who was fatally hit by a vehicle on Leesburg Pike earlier this month has been receiving increased support. According to the Fairfax County police, Giomarie Davila-Ocasio was hit by a 2016 Ford Explorer around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 in Great Falls, as she walked into the westbound lanes of the roadway.
Swim and dive seasons end with individual all-star meets
Individual swimming and diving all-star meets in the Northern Virginia Swimming League are being held this weekend. Nearly 4,000 of these individuals are in the D.C. area, as reported by Infinite Legacy, a nonprofit facilitating organ, tissue, and eye donations in Maryland, D.C., and Northern Virginia. The demand is most critical for those suffering from end-stage organ failure, particularly kidneys, with 86% of those on the waiting list in need of one. Tragically, every eight minutes, another person is added to the list, and 16 people die daily waiting for a transplant.
