Hillsborough Deputy Injured By Car Fleeing Traffic Stop

TAMPA -- Hillsborough detectives have identified the driver involved in a crash that seriously injured a deputy early Friday morning.

The Sheriff's Office says Deputy Kalin Hall first attempted to pull over a black BMW just after midnight on Bearss Avenue, then shut off his lights and tried again at Plantation Oaks Drive. Video shows the car taking off and striking Hall as he got out of his patrol car. Hall can be heard screaming in pain as he radios for help, telling dispatchers that he has a broken leg.

The BMW was found abandoned about a mile away. Deputies say charges are pending.
