    Hillsdale Hospital leaders appointed to statewide councils, committees for MHA

    HILLSDALE The Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA) welcomed six members of the Hillsdale Hospital’s leadership team to different statewide councils and committees after they were appointed to the positions.

    Jeremiah Hodshire, Rachel Lott, John Robertson, Meghan Campbell, Doris Whorley and Joshua Daugherty were each appointed to serve on various roles within the MHA councils and committees, according to the release.

    Hillsdale Hospital Chief Communications Officer Rachel Lott said in a press release their goal as an organization is to "lead the nation in advancing" the role of rural health providers. They aim to provide a unique perspective to rural healthcare in Michigan and continuously strive to improve the healthcare they provide.

    “For Hillsdale Hospital, one of the unique things about us as an independent rural hospital is that we also, as an organization, are very passionate about the healthcare industry overall, when it comes to the success of rural healthcare and rural hospitals,” Hillsdale Hospital Chief Communications Officer Rachel Lott told the Hillsdale Daily News.  “To have the opportunity to serve on statewide committees and councils, in order to have that rural voice right there at the table ... is really special for us.”

    Hillsdale Hospital's President and CEO, Jeremiah “JJ” Hodshire, is moving into his third year on the MHA Board of Trustees. Additionally, he will serve on the Small or Rural Hospital Council and the Human Resources & Workforce Council, allowing him to examine issues specific to small and rural providers and provide insight on healthcare workforce problems.

    Rachel Lott will continue her role on the Legislative Policy Panel, which group scrutinizes healthcare legislation impacting Michigan hospitals. Being on this board enables Lott to make recommendations on formal association positions on legislation and guide advocacy efforts, according to the release.

    John Robertson serves as the Chief Quality, Information & Technology Officer. Robertson will now serve on the newly instituted Chief Quality Officer (CQO) Council. With this council, he will help advance the role of CQOs and participate in the delivery of safe care. Furthermore, he will advise on policy issues related to health equity, safety, quality management, and compliance, stated the release.

    Meghan Campbell, as the Chief Nursing Officer, will join the Person and Family Engagement Advisory Council (PFEAC). This council endorses patient- and family-centered care principles in Michigan hospitals. According to the release, Campbell, along with her team, interacts directly with patients and their families during their healthcare journey.

    Doris Whorley holds the position of Director of Risk Management, Patient Advocate & Recipient Rights Advisor. Whorley will serve alongside Campbell on the PFEAC. Her role as a patient advocate grants her insight into the patients' experiences, making her the first point of contact for queries and concerns.

    Joshua Daugherty, the Information Technology Manager & Network Administrator, will serve on the Health Information Technology Strategy Committee. According to the release, this role will let him develop strategies to support the MHA with health information technology issues by scrutinizing regulatory and industry trends with significant implications for member hospitals and health systems.
