    Friday Scoreboard: Pittsford claims league title; Jonesville and Reading win big matchups

    HILLSDALE COUNTY — Welcome to the Week 8 Friday night football scoreboard. Below are the results from the penultimate week of high school football in Hillsdale County. Pittsford football won the SCAA-B championship with a milestone win over Waldron, potentially locking themselves into the 8-player Division 2 playoffs. Jonesville and Reading continued to build their playoff resumes with marquee victories. Camden-Frontier bounced back for a big in-county rivalry win over North Adams-Jerome.

    Pittsford 46, Waldron 14

    The Pittsford Wildcats improved to 7-1 with its 46-14 win over county rival Waldron, earning the SCAA-B championship outright. It was the team's eighth straight game putting up 40-plus points in a matchup. The team finished a perfect 6-0 in conference play.

    Junior quarterback Jake Drawe had 14 carries, 230 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, six pass completions, 209 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. Senior receiver Teagan Williams had four receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Alex Logan had one catch for 28 yards. Sophomore Brendan Nave had one catch for a 26-yard touchdown. Senior Noah Pann had a rushing touchdown. Junior Mondale Knephler had a rushing touchdown.

    Teagan Williams and Hunter Peiffer both had interceptions. Teagan led the team with 5.5 tackles. Senior Anthony Governo had one sack.

    At 7-1, Pittsford is considered a lock for the 8-player playoffs. Now, they look to improve their standing in the potential playoff seeding with a big win on the road at the 7-1 Climax-Scotts Panthers.

    At 5-3, Waldron is on the outside-looking-in for the playoff race in the current points standings. A win at home against Stryker (OH) to end their season could give them a chance to sneak into the tournament.

    Camden-Frontier 48, North Adams-Jerome 14

    Camden-Frontier leaned on the run game to dominate an early half of football against North Adams-Jerome, leading by as much as 36-14 by halftime thanks to multiple touchdowns from senior Kaiden Conroy. A couple untimely turnovers limited a strong North Adams-Jerome opportunity to keep the game within striking distance.

    Camden-Frontier improves to 2-6 ahead of their season finale at home against Britton Deerfield. North Adams-Jerome falls to 1-7 overall on the season. They play a 1-7 Colon team in their season finale at home on Oct. 25.

    Jonesville 70, Homer 8

    Jonesville led by as much as 56-0 by the halftime of senior night against rival Homer. The 70-8 final improved the Comets to 5-3 overall, putting them in a win-and-in position for the Division 7 playoffs in Week 9.

    John Milks continued his amazing sophomore year with 212 rushing yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns. Senior captain Carson Playford added two touchdowns and 90 yards on nine carries. Skyler Cooper, senior signal caller, had five carries for 40 yards, two rushing touchdowns, two passes for 58 yards and one passing touchdown.

    Zander Goodwin hauled in both catches for 58 yards and one touchdown. Sophomore Harper Griffiths continued his standout defensive season with five tackles, three sacks and one interception. Zander Goodwin also had an interception.

    Jonesville most likely plays Grass Lake in the season-ending Cascades crossover game. Date, time and location of the crossover has yet to be determined.

    Reading 36, Sand Creek 18

    The Reading football team and longtime coach Rick Bailey look to be in the playoff tournament for Division 8 after earning their second double-digit victory in a row. The 36-18 victory over Sand Creek (4-4) puts the Rangers at 4-4 overall and 10 spots ahead of the playoff cutline for Division 8.

    Reading hosts Pioneer North Central from Ohio for senior night and their final home game of the season on Oct. 25. The Rangers will lock themselves in with a win next week and may still get in regardless of the outcome.

    Onsted 47, Hillsdale 8

    Hillsdale lost a tough game on the road at Onsted in a 47-8 final. The game drops Hillsdale to 0-8 overall on the season. Coach Joe Williamson and the Hornets return home for a season finale against Hudson, who is undefeated in league play this year.

    Litchfield at Tekonsha (TBD)
