Chicagoan Frank Giannelli set out of Monroe Harbor early Thursday morning to raise funds for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watchThe jet skier had an audience as he trekked out of the Chicago shore at 7:15 a.m. Giannelli's intention is to trek 100 miles across Lake Michigan to Saugatuck, Michigan.The full journey across the lake should have been around three hours. However, do to choppy water the journey took about eight hours.He was greeted by a small group on the other side of the lake around 4:30 p.m.Giannelli has already raised $25,000 for Get Behind the Vest, which helps Chicago police purchase bullet proof vests.With the money already raised, the foundation can purchase 50 vests for CPD.Police officers receive their first vest when they are sworn in, however they are responsible for paying for the replacement.To learn more about the organization, click here.

CHATHAM — Ald. William Hall (6th) is moving his ward services just a year after celebrating the grand opening of his first South Side office. The 6th Ward office will reopen Aug. 1 at 8541 S. State St., Hall announced on his social media pages Monday. Chinatown Library Branch Reopens After Nearly 4-Month Closure
CHINATOWN — The Chicago Public Library Chinatown branch quietly reopened Tuesday after being closed since April for building repairs. The branch at 2100 S. Wentworth Ave. was initially set to reopen June 8 after completing “needed lighting and HVAC repairs and replacements,” Patrick Molloy, director of government and public affairs for the Chicago Public Library, said in an emailed statement. But engineers found “the cooling system was unable to properly cool the branch to comfort levels,” and the library remained closed for an additional six weeks, Molloy said.
