Airlift requested after vehicle rollover in Carroll County

CARROLL COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR )– The Hillsville Fire Department reports a patient was airlifted after an accident on the Sylvatus Highway on Wednesday, June 26.

According to the fire department , crews were dispatched at 5:34 p.m. to the 5700 block of Sylvatus Highway for a motor vehicle accident. Crews arrived and found a vehicle rolled down an embankment over around 50 yards off the roadway, with a person entrapped inside.

Crews started working to stabilize the vehicle to ensure the safest procedure in removing the driver-side door to free the patient. Personnel with the fire department were able to get the patient out of the vehicle, and they were turned over to Carroll County Fire and Rescue who requested air transport.

The fire department says Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.
