Three Killed, Six Wounded in West Philadelphia Block Party Shootout, Mayor Urges Community Action
A neighborhood in West Philadelphia became the scene of a deadly confrontation yesterday earlier where an argument at a block party descended into a firefight, leaving three dead and six injured. As reported by FOX 29, Mayor Cherelle Parker expressed her condemnation at a press conference, "It's never okay to put an entire neighborhood at risk like this." Parker's remarks come after a night that saw a community event turn into what Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel described as "a gun battle."
The nonsense Nick Castellanos’ eerily-timed home runs meme is unfunny and lost the plot
Fans know that Philadelphia Phillies’ Nick Castellanos seems to hit a home run whenever a major news story breaks. But this meme could use a break. Remember: Castellanos originally caught attention for hitting a home run during an apology from former Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman in 2020. As memes tend to do, though, this trend has evolved over the years as Castellanos has only continued to hit it out of the park during serious moments. This meme had yet another absurd moment in the sun this weekend. Not long after President Joe Biden announced he would withdraw from the 2024 U.S. presidential election on...

New Firefighters and Engines. Unions Credit Director, Who Runs Trenton (NJ) FD Like a $30M Business.
Kenneth Douglas’ first six months on the job as Trenton’s fire director were, in a word, bumpy. He arrived in the late summer of 2021 and firefighters were leery of another outsider being named to the post. He’d served as a firefighter in Newark and director in Orange.
Hunter McDonald’s old-school style has the Flyers interested
Hunter McDonald is not your typical defenseman. At least not the way most at the position play the game today. McDonald has quickly risen the ranks of the Flyers' prospect pool. It's his physical, in-your-face style that has him on the team's radar. And potentially as soon as the 2024-25 season. McDonald debuted with the Phantoms last season and is set for his first full year after two seasons at Northeastern.
