California Highway Patrol Swears In 102 New Officers
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On July 12, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) proudly introduced 102 of the state’s newest officers during a swearing-in ceremony at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento. In a continued effort to fill vacant officer positions, these men and women hail from communities throughout California, as well as Colorado and Oregon.
STATE WATER BOARD: Since launch of landmark state program, 900,000 more Californians have access to safe, affordable drinking water
Since 2019, State Water Board has distributed over $1 billion in grants for drinking water projects in disadvantaged communities. During this time, the number of people served by failing water systems has fallen from 1.6 million to 700,000 – a net gain of 900,000 more Californians who now have safe and affordable drinking water.
Meadow Klingler Captures First Victory on The West Coast Women’s Tour at Diamond Billiards
On Saturday, July 13, the ladies of the West Coast Women’s Tour headed to Diamond Billiards in Modesto, CA for their third tour stop of the 2024 season. As is the standard format of the tour, the 9-ball competition got underway at 11:00am and featured a double-elimination bracket with races to five on the winner’s side and races to three on the one-loss side.
RIFA Infestation Rings Alarm Bells in Western California

The Santa Barbara County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office is responding to an active infestation of Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA), Solenopsis invicta, in the Montecito area. They believe the infestation originated from the importation of RIFA-infected nursery stock shipped from Riverside County in September of last year.
