What goes up, must come down: Don’t fire guns to celebrate Fourth of July
HINDS COUNTY, Miss. — The Hinds County sheriff strongly advises against firing weapons to celebrate the Fourth of July. “There are past instances where this has occurred during the holiday season, where firearms were discharged,” Sheriff Tyree Jones said. “That projectile enters someone’s residence, someone has been seriously injured and or killed. We are strongly asking residents to not fire firearms during the Fourth of July.”

LeFleur East hires security, plans to install cameras at Parham Bridges Park
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - If you’ve been to Parham Bridges Park in recent weeks, you’ll likely notice Hinds County Sheriff’s Deputies patrolling the property. The off-duty deputies are being funded by the LeFleur East Foundation, a community group that is taking several steps to keep the park safe weeks after a Jackson man was gunned down there.
