UWA is first in Alabama to offer a Master of Dyslexia Therapy degree

According to the International Dyslexia Association, 15-20% of the population is dyslexic. The new program aims to equip therapists to help dyslexic students improve their reading and spelling skills. It is a two-year degree involving 30 hours of coursework and 720 hours of clinical experience. The first cohort begins in fall and will start hands-on training by mid-October, either in current employment settings or partnered local schools. This initiative strives to enhance the support available to dyslexic students, fostering better comprehension and fluency.
