Empire outhits Rincon to claim its first district championship in organization’s brief history
Empire and Rincon combined for 26 hits with Empire collecting 16 of them in its 12-9 victory in the District 12 8-10 baseball championship Friday night at Manzanita Park. Empire, which went 4-0 in the tournament, including two wins over Rincon, advances to the state tournament that begins July 13 at Gilbert.
South Carolina teen wanted in deadly July 4th shooting arrested in Bibb County, police say
COLUMBIA, S.C. — A teen wanted in a deadly July 4 shooting in Columbia has been arrested roughly 170 miles away in Georgia, police say. The shooting happened at Woodland Terrace Apartments in the 300 block of South Beltline Boulevard around 3 p.m. on Thursday. Police said the male victim was taken to an area hospital but died a short time later. Officers spent several hours at the scene collecting evidence and asking witnesses to come forward with information.
South Georgia sees summer heat and rainfall on Sunday
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - On Sunday, July 7, South Georgia saw more showers and storms as a boundary remains over the area.
