[PHOTOS] Confirmed Tornado Tears Through Rome NY
Update 6:14pm: Governor Hochul says she has deployed the NYS Police and other agencies to help in Oneida County. As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. Photos from the scene show a church with its roof and steeple torn off, numerous downed trees and power lines, overturned vehicles - even a B-52 bomber on display at the Air Force base was moved by the strong winds.
Meteor passed over NYC, Statue of Liberty Tuesday: NASA
A number of tri-state area residents reported feeling a shaking or hearing a loud boom Tuesday morning leading to quite the mystery. NASA is estimating a meteor passed through the area between 10 a.m. and noon and would account for people saying they saw a fireball in the sky. NASA said simultaneous military activity in the area may account the shaking or boom residents felt.

Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) has been recognized as a 2024-25 Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, ranking in the top 15 in the state. (WNY News Now) – Olean – Significant traffic delays are expected on East State Street in Olean as the Walkable Olean Phase III construction project progresses. Construction continues on East State Street from Front Street to North Union Street. Work at the Barry Street intersection will begin July 22nd. There will be significant traffic delays as it will be down to one lane traffic at times, detours will be in place through the completion of the project. Recent Cyber Attacks Threaten Hudson Valley, New York Infrastructure
The Hudson Valley has fallen victim to a slew of cyber attacks in recent months, compromising important information from both local organizations and individuals. Cyberattack complaints in New York state increased 53% between 2016 and 2022, jumping from 16,426 incidents in 2016 to 25,112 in 2022, according to the FBI. The number of attacks targeting critical infrastructure in New York state nearly doubled to 83 in the first half of 2023 compared to 48 during the entirety of 2022 according to a report released by State Comptroller Thomas P.
