HINTON, Iowa (KCAU) — The Woodbury County Democratic Party has chosen a candidate for Iowa House District 13.

The party chose Rosanne Plante , of Hinton, as the candidate for District 13 on July 24. District 13 includes all of Monona County as well as parts of Cherokee, Plymouth, and Woodbury counties.

Plante said she is honored to accept the nomination.

“As a moderate Democrat, I have the life experience needed to understand the issues and needs of the citizens in the district. I have cared for elderly relatives, fought for families in court, and experienced tragedy, crises, and victories. Through all of these experiences, I have learned how to problem-solve, think outside the box for solutions, and help others succeed no matter what issues they are facing. Through my volunteer work, I have written legislation, presented to legislators, and testified before Iowa legislative committees. I know the process of making laws and I’m ready to be effective on day 1 of the legislative session..” Plante said.

Plante said she aims to focus on unity.

“As a “purple” candidate, I realize that there are outstanding policies to help Iowans on both sides of the political spectrum.  I support Republican ideas and policies that are good. I support Democratic policies that are good. Bottom line – I support good ideas and policies, period,” Plante said.

Plante will be running against Republican candidate Travis Sitzmann during the election on November 5.
