HINTON, WV (WVNS) — The city of Hinton held the swearing in ceremony for the office of mayor and for city council on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Todd Kirby appointed as Circuit Judge of the tenth Judicial Circuit Court for Raleigh County

Two new members of city council were sworn in; Janima Bond and Lee Ann Goins, as well as two incumbent members being re-sworn in; Jim Leslie, and Roberta “Bobbi” Sorg.

Mayor Jack Scott was also re-sworn in for another four years as mayor of Hinton.

Mayor Scott and City Councilwoman Bond are both looking forward to the next four years.

“I appreciate having the opportunity again to help the city. I think we made progress over the last four years. And I’m excited about the incoming council, we have a couple of new members and I think they’ll bring a lot to the table as well,” said Mayor Scott. “So, we’re excited about the next four years, things are beginning to turn around here and we just wanna continue working hard to move in that direction.”

“Very, very excited. I’m very excited about it because there so many projects that I’m looking forward to working on,” agreed City Councilwoman Bond.

Two of the bigger projects that Mayor Scott and the new city council hope to tackle are the Hinton Landing and Batteau Beach projects which are currently being worked on in house.

The housing situation in Hinton will also be a main focus for City Councilmembers Leslie and Bond who are both involved with the project.
