HINTON, WV (WVNS) — The Mary Ingles Trail in Bluestone State Park is in dire need of a clean up.

So, the Summers County Recycling Collection Center and the US Army Corps of Engineers have decided to take matters into their own hands.

However, they are asking for some volunteer assistance.

Zack Kelly, the Operations Director for the Summers County Solid Waste Authority said everyone will be well-prepared.

“Luckily, we got some grabber hands from the city of Hinton and we have a bunch of REAP trash bags and some gloves, so we’ll be able to contribute that. Army Corps of Engineers is also providing the same things, so we’ll be able to tackle it from all angles,” said Kelly. “And if we get more volunteers than we need then we’re just gonna do an impromptu split-off and go do another trail separately.”

Kelly said they are looking for around 15 volunteers to assist with the clean-up.

Clean up begins at 10 in the morning this Friday, July 15th.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the trailhead which sits at the end of the Pits Road boat launch in Bluestone State Park.
