Signatures turned in for State Question 832 which would raise the minimum wage in Oklahoma
Raise the Wage Oklahoma turned in nearly twice as many signatures as needed to qualify State Question 832 to appear on a ballot, the group reported this week. They had 90 days to gather 92,263 signatures from registered Oklahoma voters, and say they ended up getting about 180,000. If passed, SQ832 would gradually raise the minimum wage in the state to $15.00 an hour by 2029. [See related story HERE]
Lawton YMCA hosts community basketball camp to get kids active during summer
LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - The Lawton YMCA hosted a community basketball camp which is to encourage the kids to get active and work on their game during the heat of summer!. “So we personal train during the seasons and during the off-season, but we like to do camps to kind of just get the kids all together, have more fun with it, but also get better at the same time,” said camp organizer, Lauren Henry. “So we wanted to bring them in, kind of get them in the gym, have fun and then reward them at the end with the tournament, with the pizza party, for the younger kids, donuts. So, just a fun time, but also get them better.”
