    Mary Lauretta Chappell Winslow, 97, of 1639 County Line Road, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Winslow was born in Chowan County on July 2, 1926, and was the last surviving of eight children born to the late William Thomas and Lucy Lamb Chappell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Winslow, sisters, Mildred Chappell, Myra Messner, and Alice Byrum, brothers, Carlton, Louis, Walton, and Milton Chappell, and by a granddaughter, Melissa Riddick. A homemaker and farmer's wife, she was a member of Hobbsville Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons and their wives, William and Judy Winslow, Wade and Amy Winslow, and Bernie and Leora Winslow, all of Belvidere; four grandchildren, Amanda Yopp (husband, Doug) of Raleigh, Kelly Thielman (husband, Sean) of Greensboro, Victoria Winslow, and Anthony Winslow, both of Belvidere; a grandson-in-law, Justin Riddick of Tyner; six great-grandchildren, Everett and Winslow Yopp, Ethan, Lucas, and Liam Thielman, and Autumn Riddick; and many nieces, nephews, and extended members of both the Chappell and Winslow families. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 15th, at 5:00 p.m. in Hobbsville Baptist Church and were conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Tim Dannelly. The burial was private in Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of Hobbsville Baptist Church, in care of Jean Hobbs, P.O.
