Sydney Berzon named LSWA Pitcher of the Year
After a fantastic sophomore season at LSU, softball’s Sydney Berzon has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Year in the state. Berzon was also an All-American this season and last, finishing 2024 with a 20-9 record and 1.78 ERA while striking out 185 batters. 'Pride or die:' Queer Northshore champions LGBTQ+ support in rural Louisiana
Mel Manuel and Jeremy JF Thompson struggled to meet other LGBTQ+ folks when they moved to Covington three years ago. Having previously lived in New Orleans, Manuel and Thompson, who both use they/them pronouns, felt out of place in a less urban and more conservative region. Manuel, 40, and Thompson, 43, decided to create their own LGBTQ+ safe space.
