Not only are the Mountaineers the rare team facing two major-conference opponents in non-conference play, but they played Penn State and Pitt a season ago. Big 12 play begins with a home game against Kansas, and tough, no, they did not play last season, WVU ought to have a much better idea what to expect this time around. One of the first players that EerSports noticed among the crowd of roughly one hundred participants at WVU's final one-day camp of the summer was Woodland Hills (PA) athlete Scoop Smith. The 2026 prospect put up a 36" vertical jump and a 4.44 40-yard dash during testing, and then followed that by impressing in position drills and dominating in one-on-ones. Fire breaks out in Bellaire home, all occupants and pets unharmed
BELMONT COUNTY, OH — On Thursday night, a house fire broke out in Bellaire near Noble and 36th streets. Authorities on scene say a bed caught fire on the second floor of the home a little after 9 p.m. Both the police and fire departments from Martins Ferry and Bellaire responded.

SHEPHERDSTOWN — The professional baseball career of WVU infielder JJ Wetherholt can begin after he signed a contract that contained a $6.8 million dollar bonus. It was the St. Louis Cardinals who selected Wetherholt in the first round of the just-completed draft of amateur players. The Mars, Pa. native was the seventh player selected in the first round.
