The City of Wheat Ridge Green Business Grant Program Offers Up to $1000 for Environmental Sustainability Projects

WHEAT RIDGE, CO - The City of Wheat Ridge offers up to $1000 in the Green Business Grant Program to improve the business sustainability in the Wheat Ridge business community. The program is to be offered annually and the offer will remain open until all the available funding has been allocated. This is a matching grant program, meaning that the city will pay a portion of the project and will match 50% of the eligible project costs with a maximum grant contribution is $1000 per applicant per year.

If you own a for-profit local business in property zoned commercial or industrial with a physical establishment, you can apply for funding. Any building owner or tenant with lease authority from the building owner can apply for funding. Home-based and franchise businesses are not eligible.

The type of businesses that are considered eligible is sustainability upgrades and services that support resource conservation and environmentally sustainable businesses operations.

For example, energy efficiency projects, water conservation projects, waste reduction projects, and behavior change campaigns such as special treatment for customers who bring a reusable container.

The criteria of applications that will be approved are:

1. The application clearly delivers the project's description, how it will increase environmental sustainability, benefits employees and/or the Wheat Ridge Community
2. The application includes a project budget that clearly outlines the total cost and what costs are associated with the grant reimbursement.
