Cinemark Theatres has record weekend, questions the future of movie theatres
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Cinemark achieved its best opening summer weekend box office of all time just a few days ago. The release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ took box offices by storm nationwide, grossing more than $210 million. The film was awarded best July opening ever and best-ever opening for an R-rated film. The consumer interest only goes to show that there is still a desire for the unique experiences only movie theatres can provide. ‘Twisters’, ‘Despicable Me 4′, and ‘Inside Out 2′ have also contributed to an outpouring of interest throughout what has been a busy and successful Summer movie release.

(WAFB) - Today’s Forecast: A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of our viewing area today from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values peaking near 110° in some neighborhoods. Rain will be hard to come by, with today’s chances posted at less than 20%.

BATON ROUGE — A family who moved into a home off South Harrells Ferry Road less than a month ago lost the majority of their belongings during a weekend fire.
