A Holden teenager was killed after two vehicles went airborne east of Lee’s Summit just after 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the unidentified 15-year-old was among six teenagers from Holden in a pair of vehicles that failed to stop at a stop sign on Milton Thompson Road at the outer road to westbound U.S. Route 50. The deceased teenager was a passenger in the first car, which struck the highway median, went airborne, and came to rest on its top. One passenger was ejected from that vehicle. The second vehicle also ran the stop sign and went airborne, striking that passenger.

Four people involved in the crash suffered moderate injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle had minor injuries. All five were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
