Celebrating Pioneer Day in Ogden
Every July 24 in Utah, it’s common to see businesses close so that workers can have Pioneer Day off. Ogden’s week-long celebration is unique. In 1934, Ogden Mayor Harman Peery wanted to bring in revenue and make Ogden a tourist hotspot. With beard-growing contests, rodeos, parades, dances and more, the celebrations were historically successful.
Logan officials announce closures, modified schedules for city services on Pioneer Day
LOGAN – Officials here in Logan have announced closures and modified schedules for Logan City services and facilities during the Pioneer Day holiday. “Residential garbage, recycling and green waste will be collected as usual on Wednesday, July 24,” according to Logan Public Works spokesperson Emily Malik. “The city landfill will also open to the public on that day.”
