HOLLAND — The rumors are true. DeBoer Bakkerij has officially purchased Jackie’s Place Restaurant in Holland.

Although business owners remain tight lipped about plans for the space, the sale was confirmed by DeBoer’s Jakob de Boer and Jackie’s Place owner Ken Kragt.

Kragt did not confirm a closure date for Jackie's Place, nor even that the business at 541 W. 17th St. would close, though customers confirm staff have told them July will be their last month in operation.

The business has been family owned for over three decades, specializing in affordable, home-cooked meals.

DeBoer’s, too, is well-known in Holland. The bakery and restaurant has two locations, 360 Douglas Ave. on the northside and 380 W. 16th St. on the southside — the latter less than a half mile from Jackie's Place.

Kragt said more information will be released in the coming weeks, as the two businesses work out the details of the sale.
