3 vehicle crash on I-75 kills 1

MONROE — One person died and two others were injured following an early morning crash on I-75 in Monroe County.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. a sedan driven by Cianna M Rook, age 18  with a passenger Sauedio A. Wertz, age 18, both residents of Holland, Ohio, struck an unoccupied and disabled vehicle with its hazard lights activated in the travel lane.

The driver and passenger exited the vehicle and climbed over a barrier wall to safety.

Shortly after, Eddie C. Dillard, age 59, of Detroit, was operating a box truck in the same lane as the two abandoned vehicles and struck them, causing his truck to overturn onto its side.

Ms. Rook and Mr. Wertz were both transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital and listed in stable condition. Mr. Dillard was pronounced dead at the scene.
