Utica is set to become a vibrant canvas this week for young artists at the Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition. The event will take place at Palmer Par in Utica on Thursday, July 18th from 10:30AM to 11:15AM hosted in partnership with the Oneida County Youth Bureau. This free event invites children ages 5 to 18 to showcase their creativity on the sidewalks of Pratt Munson College of Art and Design’s campus at 1200 State Street during the Munson Arts Festival. Recent Cyber Attacks Threaten Hudson Valley, New York Infrastructure
The Hudson Valley has fallen victim to a slew of cyber attacks in recent months, compromising important information from both local organizations and individuals. Cyberattack complaints in New York state increased 53% between 2016 and 2022, jumping from 16,426 incidents in 2016 to 25,112 in 2022, according to the FBI. The number of attacks targeting critical infrastructure in New York state nearly doubled to 83 in the first half of 2023 compared to 48 during the entirety of 2022 according to a report released by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

Gov. Kathy Hochul inched toward a statewide ban on smartphones in schools, launching a “listening tour” across New York to hear from teachers and parents. The series of roundtables, which kicked off Monday in the Albany region, will help inform a statewide policy proposal the governor’s office said will be announced this year.
