HOLLISTER, Mo. – Torrential rain has caused road erosion to shut down the southbound lane on MO-76, near Branson Landing Boulevard Bridge in Taney County. Major backups are expected as only the northbound lane is open.

The road, which runs parallel to Lake Taneycomo, will use flaggers during the day to direct traffic. At night, temporary signals will be put in place to direct traffic until the problem is resolved.

“Our crews are accessing the issue now and deciding the best course of action,” says MoDOT’s Regan Mitchell.

The erosion, which is causing the land under the road to slip into the banks of Taneycomo, is not an unheard-of issue along this stretch of road. In October 2019, an area just north of this location had a similar issue.

For now, expect delays along Business US-65, Branson Landing Boulevard near the bridge, and onto MO-76.
