Clean up is underway after flash flooding in Taney County

HOLLISTER, Mo. — It’s a day of cleanup for businesses in Taney County after flash flooding early Wednesday morning. One business in Hollister is discovering how much they lost and what it will take to rebuild.

Even though Gabe Rabideau can see much of what was lost like trucks and trailers the owner of Rabideau Fabrication tells me today will be filled with searching for what else was lost in the flood.

“It’s a lot of stuff lost but no one got hurt, but beyond that as we’re looking through, you know a good example of that is my generator over there in the lake right now, I didn’t even know I lost my generator,” Gabe Rabideau said. “It’s gonna be one of those over the next several months, I’m gonna be looking for something in my shop and it’s gonna be gone.”

Rabideau Fabrication is one of many businesses all in a row near the edge of Turkey Creek. Rabideau says his business has been here for about 5 years, and in that time, he has never seen flooding like this.

In a matter of 20 minutes, Rabideau said the water was waist-high in his building.

Rabideau said the other businesses nearby are like a family and are trying to help each other.

“I think everyone is just trying to keep a good spirit, yesterday was a little rough around here and today we’re all in solution mode you know trying to get it solved,” Rabideau said.

He said that even though it might take a while, he plans to rebuild and get back to work as soon as he can.
