Lisa Gillespie, 37, of Fayetteville, is the principal of Mary McArthur Elementary School. She was nominated for 40 Under 40 because she "has created a successful school environment. Since becoming the principal of Mary McArthur Elementary she has helped the school to get out of 'low performing' status," nominator Shirley Braxton-McLaurin writes. "She successfully led the school through the pandemic by supporting and leading teachers through online teaching. ... She makes herself available to families and builds relationships with them. Rocky Mount man charged with statutory rape
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) - A Rocky Mount man is in jail after being charged with statutory rape. Kyle Sanders was arrested Tuesday at his home. Rocky Mount police say they got a call from a neighbor in the 800 block of South Tilery Street after getting information about a missing child and a wanted person. They say the victim was in Sanders’s home and taken to Nash UNC Health Care as a precaution.
