Fans were not given a reason for the cancellation in the refund notices. According to Variety , the tour was supposed to start on Friday in Tampa and end the American leg at the Hollywood Bowl on September 17. There were also shows scheduled in New York and New Jersey on September 20-21 and in other cities such as Atlanta, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, and Milwaukee, totaling 18 U.S. dates. After a short break, the tour was set to continue in Europe, starting in Manchester, England, on October 12 and ending in Amsterdam on October 22, with additional shows in London and Paris.

An official statement from Hill and the Fugees has not been released. The singer’s social media feeds regarding the tour have also not been updated. This is the third consecutive year that Hill and her reunited group have canceled some or all of their tour dates. Disappointed fans have expressed their frustration online, with many noting the repeated cancellations.

One fan wrote, “At this point, I don’t blame Lauryn Hill and the Fugees. I blame y’all for buying tickets in the first place.” Another suggested that the group perform for NPR’s Tiny Desk.

In November of last year, Hill and the Fugees were in the middle of a tour when she announced the remaining dates for the year were postponed. She cited severe vocal strain as the reason, explaining that she had been taking prescribed prednisone to get through each show, which can be harmful if taken in large amounts over long periods. She stated that she needed time off to allow for real vocal recovery and to discontinue the medication completely.
