Usher has decided to delay the opening of his tour just hours before he was scheduled to perform on Wednesday.

The artist was supposed to kick off his Past Present Future tour at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, his hometown, but he canceled the first concert due to experiencing physical discomfort leading up to the event.

“For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” Usher wrote to his fans on Wednesday. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal. You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me.”

He continued: “The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”

His upcoming performances, which are also taking place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Friday and Saturday, are currently in question. It remains uncertain if those concerts will go ahead as scheduled.

This past summer, Usher took to the stage at the Essence Festival of Culture in July, where he entertained the crowd with popular tracks from his “Confessions” album.

“Anytime that I’ve been able to be a part of the festivities of New Orleans’ all-time famous Essence Festival, it’s always a celebration,” he told the USA TODAY Network at the time. “This year was a little bit more unique because I’m celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘Confessions.'”

Just days prior to his performance, Usher appeared at the BET Awards to accept the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award. This honor was accompanied by a musical tribute featuring Keke Palmer, Chloë, Coco Jones, and others.

Usher has been a busy man for the last couple of months so maybe a break for him is well needed!
