Oop! #Socialites, get a load of this! Mustard — formerly DJ Mustard and the producer who notably produced Kendrick Lamar ‘s “Not Like Us” — is suggesting that he’s done making music with Drake , calling him “a strange guy.”

In a new interview with The Los Angeles Times , Mustard recalls his role in creating Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us,” and how the song helped Lamar blow Drake out of the water in their historic rap battle. Mustard told The Times that he knew the song was a knockout when he watched his 9-year-old daughter perform a routine to the song in a group recital at dance camp earlier this week.

Mustard recalled, “She was right in the front, and I’m like, ‘You guys are dancing to a diss song about Drake — at school?'” The acclaimed producer laughed and added, “That was the best sh*t ever.” The song has since topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and racked up more than 1 billion streams on Spotify and YouTube.

Recalling Kendrick Lamar’s all-star Juneteenth concert at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and how the crowd-pleasing track set the venue on fire, rapper and producer Terrace Martin, who’s worked with K. Dot, Snoop Dogg , and other West Coast stars, told The Times, “I was right by the stage looking up at him as he was performing that night, and it was like everybody was getting healed.”

He continued, “The biggest gangsters in the room were crying and hugging, and not because they were feeling good about burying Drake. It was just about everybody being in the same room and having a good time together. And that was just the first time he played it. Every time he did the song, it triggered a different emotion.”

Speaking on the knockout track he produced for Kendrick Lamar, Mustard admitted that he had no idea that “Not Like Us” would be as big as it is. He recalled texting K. Dot several beats in hopes of one day collaborating. One of those snippets included a beat using a sped-up snippet of “I Believe to My Soul” by the late jazz and R&B saxophonist Monk Higgins.

Mustard said K. Dot “hearted” the track on text but had no idea how the Compton rapper would use the beat until he heard “Not Like Us” drop in the middle of his rap battle with Drake. Mustard said, “Then it was like the world stopped. I was on the freeway going to a baby shower and when I got there, there was a party next door and they were already playing it.”

Upon leaving the baby shower, Mustard flew to Las Vegas for a DJ gig, and when asked if he spun the record that night, he said, “Hell, yeah!” And when asked if he has a favorite line on the track, he grinned and said, “Beat your a** and hide the Bible if God watchin’.” He added, “You know how crazy that is to say to somebody?”

In addition to Kendrick Lamar getting into it with Drake, whom he accused of being a pedophile and cultural colonizer, Mustard also had it out with Drake’s fans on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this month. Drizzy’s fans poked fun at the acclaimed producer’s first-week sales of his album ‘ Faith of a Mustard Seed ,’ which led to Mustard calling Drake “the Malcolm X of White people.” He also described the Toronto rapper’s stans as “the Nation of Drizzlam.”

Recalling the incident, Mustard said, “These guys don’t go to sleep — all they do is tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet. That’s where ‘the Nation of drizzlam’ came from. I said it in a joking manner, but I guess on Twitter it looked like I was mad. Drake should use that phrase. I won’t charge him for it.” When asked by The Times if he could ever see himself producing a song for Drake, he admitted, “I don’t think I want to make a song with that dude. He’s a strange guy.”

He also likened former President Donald Trump to the same characteristic. Speaking on Trump and his associates, Mustard said, “I mean, they got some weird cases too.” He went on to quote a line from “Not Like Us,” where Kendrick Lamar mentions one of Drake’s crew members who’s been accused of assault. Mustard added, “Trump is definitely f***ing weird, and he’s definitely not like us.”
