Adele is seemingly making it clear that she’s for sure taking an indefinite hiatus from music — as she claims, “You won’t see me for an incredibly long time” as she plans to “do other creative things.”

On Saturday (August 31), Adele shared a brief speech from the stage during her residency in Munich, Germany. The “Hello” singer explained that she would be taking a quite lengthy break from the industry as soon as she wrapped her upcoming residency in Las Vegas, Nevada.

While speaking to fans at the last concert of her 10-show Munich run, Adele said , “I just need a rest. I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now. I want to live my life that I’ve been building and I will miss you terribly.”

The 36-year-old singer continued to state that she originally planned for her Munich residency to be the last set of shows of her ’ 30 ’ era, but things changed when she had to reschedule her postponed 2022 Las Vegas dates for Fall 2024. Adele added, “I have 10 shows to do. But, after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time. And I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break.”

The Grammy Award-winner also emphasized that this residency touring period has been the “longest” time that she has ever performed and will likely never commit to such a schedule again. After telling fans that won’t see them for an “incredibly long time,” Adele led concertgoers into a tearful sing-a-long of her 2011 breakout hit “Someone Like You.”

As the singer mentioned, she still has concerts on her schedule from October 25 through November 23 in Vegas. Now, Adele’s revolution this past weekend isn’t the only one that we’ve learned during her Munich residency. Early on in her 10-show run, she announced her own engagement to her boyfriend, sports agent Rich Paul .

This also isn’t the first time that Adele has hinted at or suggested that she intends on taking a hiatus from music to focus on her family and other “creative things.” In July, she first revealed that she would be taking a break from her music career after all of her residencies wrapped up. In January she also told one audience, “I just don’t think I’m gonna write an album for quite some time, but next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live.”
