Selena Gomez Reveals She ‘Can’t Carry’ Children Due to ‘Medical Issues’: “That Was Something I Had to Grieve for a While”

In the October issue of Vanity Fair, Selena Gomez opens up about her blossoming romance with Benny Blanco , expressing how wonderful it has been, noting, “I’ve never been loved this way.” The singer also candidly discusses her personal health challenges and the harsh reality she faces regarding her hopes for expanding her future family.

“I haven’t ever said this, but unfortunately, I can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put both my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while,” she reveals.

Despite this difficult news, the 32-year-old remains optimistic about her future. She is determined to have children and looks forward to exploring medical alternatives that may be available to her when the time is right.

Gomez, who has been open about her battle with lupus, reflects, “It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen as it does for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

As she considers the next chapter of her life, Selena expresses her excitement, sharing, “I’m looking forward to what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
