Dave Bautista recently discussed his physical transformation in an interview on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast. The wrestler-turned-actor shared details about his weight loss, revealing that he slimmed down partly to pursue more diverse acting roles.

Bautista mentioned that he gained a lot of weight for his role in the 2023 thriller Knock at the Cabin, directed by M. Night Shyamalan. He mentioned feeling uncomfortable at around 315 pounds and admitted to gaining weight very quickly. Bautista explained that he achieved his size by consuming a diet primarily consisting of french fries and pancakes, causing him to gain weight rapidly between films. According to TOO FAB, the actor shared that the director wanted him to look like a “big guy,” but he put on too much weight, which was difficult for him to lose.

As he continued to shed the extra weight, he noticed enhancements in his appearance and comfort in front of the camera.”The more I trimmed down, the better I felt, the better I looked next to other actors,” he said. However, his dramatic transformation sparked concern among fans, some of whom worried about his health. “It’s weird because people say, ‘God, you’re skinny,'” Bautista noted.

“People think I’m anorexic, but I’m still a large human being. Next to your typical actor, I look like a gorilla.”

Despite the challenges of weight loss, he intends to continue to lose a few more pounds but says the restrictive diet and training are a lot of work. Consuming only about 2,500 calories a day, Bautista incorporates intermittent fasting into his routine, often delaying his first meal until after 1 p.m.
