50 Cent — who was invited by Dr. Dre to perform at Super Bowl LVI in 2022 alongside Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg , Eminem , Mary J. Blige , and Anderson .Paak — recently appeared as a guest on ‘ The Talk ‘ this week. During one segment titled “50 Cent’s 2 Cents,” co-hosts Sheryl Underwood , Amanda Kloots , and Akbar Gbajabiamila asked the New York rapper about his opinion on the Super Bowl drama.

Addressing Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Super Bowl LIX performance, 50 Cent said, “I mean, it was a choice. As a solo artist right now, he’s the guy.” Highlighting the drama with Kendrick Lamar performing at the New Orleans Super Bowl over native and NOLA rap legend Lil Wayne , 50 Cent said he could “see why” Wayne could have been a great candidate to headline, but suggested that K.Dot should “bring out” some of his past collaborators, like Dr. Dre did at the Los Angeles Super Bowl in 2022.

While addressing the iconic rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, 50 Cent said the beef was “good for the culture.” He added, “Both Drake and Kendrick Lamar produced quality music faster because they had to compete with each other. That competitive nature made them go work and have responses.”

50 continued to highlight, “Hip-Hop is still… It’s not just a genre where you can just make a song and sit back. You have to make a song and be ready to make a song again right away with other artists.”

Amid the mounting Super Bowl drama between Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne, the NOLA native finally broke his silence on Thursday (September 12). He shared a video to his Instagram and revealed how disappointed he was. He began, “First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking. I’mma say thank you to every voice, every opinion, and all the care, love, and support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back.”

Wayne continued, “That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown, and for automatically mentally putting myself in that position, like somebody told me that was my position. So, I blame myself for that.”

He added, “But, I thought [there] was nothing better than that spot, and that stage, and that platform in my city, so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot. But y’all are f***ing amazing. It made me feel like sh*t not getting this opportunity, and when I felt like sh*t, you guys reminded me that I ain’t sh*t without y’all… and that’s an amazing reality.”

Concluding, Lil Wayne said, “So, like I said, it broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together. But, my God, have you all helped me. Thanks to all of my peers, my friends, my family, and my homies on sports television and everybody repping me. I really appreciate that, I really do. I feel like I let all of y’all down by not getting that opportunity, but, I’m working on me and I’m working. So, thank you.”

Whether he deserves it or not it’s still disrespectful to be overlooked.

Yes, just give the man his flowers. He ain’t done nothing wrong but got chosen to perform at the Super Bowl. You got all these lunatics making nothing out of everything. Then, Nicki Minaj irrelevant. Girl, I was bumping your music years ago when you first came out and mattered. Like I said, couldn’t care about what a Nicki fan thought. It was us millennials banging her music when she came out.
