Drake Calls Out Fake Friends Following Ongoing Feud with Kendrick Lamar: ‘They Might Stab You In The Back’

Drake made an appearance at Tyrone Edwards’ Nostalgia Party in Toronto over the weekend, taking to the mic to not only perform some of his classic hits but also to express gratitude for his loyal friends… while calling out those who have turned against him.

In a viral clip, the “God’s Plan” rapper paused his performance to acknowledge his crew, stating, “My real friends are definitely in the building.” He then shifted the conversation to share some hard truths, saying, “But I’m going to tell you, you’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends, or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up.”

Drake elaborated further, remarking, “They might move funny with you. They might stab you in the back; they might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization. Wherever you’re at in life, you’ve probably been there and you’ll be there again.” He wrapped up his message with, “That’s how life is. But look, sometimes it’s you and you alone by yourself,” before launching into a rendition of Beyoncé’s “Me, Myself and I.”

The apparent switch in friendships seems to have become more pronounced amid Drake’s ongoing feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar . As previously reported, the two rappers exchanged bars in multiple diss tracks earlier this year, with the tension culminating when Lamar released his epic diss track “Not Like Us.”

This song has been played repeatedly and sung by many, including Drake’s celebrity friends. Recently, fans noticed that Drake went on an unfollowing spree, removing several stars from his social media, including LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, Playboi Carti, Joe Budden , and others.

Drake is clearly focused on loyalty, a theme he has emphasized throughout the year. When Kendrick Lamar was announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show next year, Drake showed support for his Day 1 rap friend Lil Wayne, as many people believed that the honor should have gone to him since the event will take place in his hometown of New Orleans.

While the tension between Drake and Kendrick Lamar appears to have simmered down, Drizzy’s message about friendships may not sit well with some of his circles.

You can't understand what lil Wayne is saying. He lost the spot all by himself. As far as a song. Drake has taken it all the way personal.
