How Winona deputies assisted fraud probe
STOCKTON, Minn. – The role of Winona County officers in the $1 million fraud case against a Stockton woman was to stand by while federal agents searched her property on the outskirts south of Stockton in January, Sheriff Ron Ganrude confirmed. Tammy Wadsworth, 62, appeared in federal court in Minneapolis last week. She was accused of running a franchise operation illegally from her house on Old County Road 23. It was on January 18 that federal agents entered the property abut 8:30 a.m., while the =local officers stood by. The local officers – three sheriff’s deputies and one city officer — were on scene 6 hours and 45 minutes. The indictment claims Wadsworth made false business claims to franchisees and peddled medically unproven techniques and products through the franchisees to their customers.

Caledonia/Spring Grove boys track and field coach Reese Wait, pictured above left (far left) with his state title winning team, recently received the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association boys track and field Coach of the Year Award for Minnesota. Said award is sponsored by the Marine Corp and recognizes the best high boys and girls coaches, at both the state and national levels, in cross country and track and field. Wait guided a small Warrior contingent to the state Class A team title, as they had two relay state champions, an individual state champ, plus five other podium makers amidst a squad that sent seven guys to state.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - It’s become a summer tradition for the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley, kids and lemonade. The 15th annual #Squeezetheday Lemonade Day will be held on Thursday, August 1st in communities in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Altoona, Menomonie and Black River Falls.

La Crosse’s old fire station on Monitor Street is being put up for sale. The city board of public works has reviewed a resolution to seek offers for the surplus property. “This’ll be advertised in the newspaper, and then also with a ‘for sale’ sign,” said Andrea Trane from the city planning office. “Then, the board of public works will receive offers for that, after a certain period of time,” before providing a recommendation to the city council.
Wisconsin National Guard to showcase opportunities for females in flight
Women interested in learning about potential careers in military aviation will have more opportunities to hear from subject matter experts at this year’s EAA AirVenture. “This year we are expanding our support of WomenVenture into multiple days, and we are excited to share our stories again with the public,” said Capt. Meredith Porter, battalion training officer for the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment — a UH-60 Black Hawk unit — in Madison, Wisconsin.
