Kansas artist completes 108-foot wheat mural on grain elevator
Talented Kansas-based mural artist Mindy Allen has recently finished her largest project to date — a 108-foot-tall mural on a grain elevator in rural Inman. The mural project began nearly five weeks ago, timed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of turkey red winter wheat’s introduction to Kansas. Allen, whose business is called Mindy’s Murals, was determined to honor this milestone accurately. She even engaged the community by setting up a donation poll on Facebook, allowing locals to vote on the color of the combine featured in the mural.

The KU Hoops Roster: Transfers
In the first two editions of this series, I went through KU’s returning starters, followed by a look this year’s freshman recruiting class. However, in modern college sports, recruiting never ends and also includes players from other schools looking for a better destination. In years past, Self has used D1 transfers as a way to shore up what appears to be a weakness on the team. It’s gone better in some cases than others. Nic Timberlake was a sought-after senior transfer last year intended to give the team a knockdown shooter with the quickness to drive and score on poor closeouts. What we saw instead was a player skilled enough to look good at Towson, but who simply couldn’t compete at the Big 12 level. We’ve seen similar results from players like Joseph Yesufu, who spent the second half of his sophomore season lighting up in the MVC at Drake. Yesufu never found his footing at Kansas, and after inconsistent playing time, spent his final year at Washington State.
CareArc board to discuss de-obligating nearly $90,000 in federal funding
CareArc’s Board of Directors has a number of standard reports on the agenda for its monthly meeting, along with several new items. Board members could de-obligate nearly $90,000 in federal grant funds, meaning canceling of reducing that amount because the funds won’t be needed as originally stated, and it could approve the “disposition of tangible property” as part of its action. The board agenda says the money was initially meant for remote monitoring purposes. The funding was initially granted through the H80 Health Center Program offering supplemental funds for behavioral health services.
