Soggy and Stormy Start to the Week
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Today saw a little less rain than this past weekend, but thanks to the clouds around, temperatures only topped off in the mid- to upper-80s. This evening and tonight expect a chance of showers and storms to linger into the early nighttime hours. Tuesday out the door expect temperatures in the low-70s with some areas of patchy fog possible, so use some extra caution on the roads. Tuesday expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers and storms in the afternoon/evening, and temperatures in the upper-80s to low-90s. The Valley is stuck between two weather patterns, leading to an unsettled weather throughout the work week; rain coverage sits between 40-60% Tuesday through Friday. Conditions will return to a more summer-like pattern late weekend into early next week. As for those temperatures, they look to sit in the mid- to upper-80s Wednesday through Friday. We will continue to watch the rain coverage this weekend, as this is one of the last few weekends before the new school year starts.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Buffalo Rock Company, the Columbus franchise, was awarded the PepsiCo Beverages North America’s, 2023 Donald M. Kendall Bottler of the Year Award. Buffalo Rock Company bottles drinks. According to company officials, the award they received is the highest honor given to PepsiCo Beverages North America’s bottling partners, and receiving the honor showcases their “commitment to excellence, community involvement, outstanding business performance.”

Last week, Columbus Animal Allies released videos acquired through an open records request from Columbus Animal Care & Control’s security cameras. These videos were recorded between 4 and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, a day when the facility euthanized 12 healthy, adoptable dogs due to a lack of space.

Troy Rookie All-Stars compete in World Series
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... The Troy All-Stars represented Alabama at the Dixie Ozone Rookies (11U) World Series in Mississippi this past weekend. Troy went 2-2 at the World Series. They opened up the World Series with a 8-5 win over Livingston on July 18. Cole Cleveland led Troy at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Elliot Cochran went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Barrett Powell and Cochran pitched two innings each. Cochran struck out two and gave up two hits and two earned runs, while Powell struck out three and gave up no hits or earned runs.
