HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Wistariahurst Museum celebrated 150 years in Holyoke this Wednesday evening.

Dozens came out to commemorate the museum’s legacy, during their “Go Retro at Wisty Wednesdays’ event. Many gathered inside the museum for games, face painting, and food.

Guests also had the chance to see the opening reception for their newest exhibit, which reflects on the city’s history. It unveiled wedding gowns, sculptures, and posters from cultural events that have been stored for years.

“It’s wonderful. It’s really great. And people are really interested in how Wisteria Hearst got here. What is it? So many people drive by. They have no idea what it is, whether we’re open or not. So it’s an opportunity for people to learn the history of the museum and and the history of the city as well,” said Curator and Holyoke Historian, Penni Martorell.

The exhibit will be open until mid-September. “Wisty Wednesdays” will continue through August.
