HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – In Holyoke Thursday night, the stands at Mackenzie Stadium were packed with baseball fans, including some four-legged ones!

Dog lovers were able to bring their hounds to the mounds, during a fundraising event called ‘Bark in the Park.’ It was part of a partnership between the Valley Blue Sox and the ‘Good Dog Spot’ to help animals get the medical treatment and surgeries they need. Throughout the game, there were pet vendors, pools for dogs, and swag bags to help raise money for TJO Animal Shelter in Springfield.

“The people at TJO do a lot of work and their budget is very thin. As a dog lover myself. Anything we can do to help support them, I have two dogs of my own from there, so anything we can do to get back to help them out, I’m more than happy to do,” said Valley Blue Sox General Manager, Brandon Seymour.

“It’s fantastic to be able to do something as grand as this for a fantastic cause,” added Kathryn Breck of Westfield.

Jack Wu and Meteorologist Chris Bouzakis will be throwing out the first pitch on Saturday as the Blue Sox take on the Bristol Blues.
