A Wichita man was hospitalized after he was ejected from his motorcycle in Chase County Wednesday afternoon. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, just after 4:15 pm a 2007 Suzuki Motorcycle ridden by 45-year-old Michael Rader of Wichita was traveling southbound on the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 102, roughly five miles north of the Matfield Green service exit. Rader reportedly left the roadway and struck a guardrail ejecting him from the motorcycle.

Stafford library receives another round of funding with Heritage grant
Every community has its center - that place where everything seems to happen. In Great Bend, it's the Barton County Courthouse and Jack Kilby Square. In Stafford, it's the Nora E. Larabee Memorial Library. The library recently received a second Heritage Trust Fund grant from the Kansas Historical Society. Library Board Member Shelly Brensing said the grants have been invaluable in preserving the facility.
Barton ranked #2 in the nation for best athletic department
Mark it seven straight years that Barton Community College has finished as one of the top three most successful athletic programs in the country. The National Alliance of Two Year College Athletics Administrators (NATYCAA) judges all community colleges across the country on how their teams finish at national competitions. Barton Athletic Director Trevor Rolfs said the Cougars athletic department finished second in the nation for the 2023-2024 school year.
