    Get ready for the India Day Parade in Middlesex County — everything you need to know

    It's time to celebrate the Indian culture and heritage with food, music and performances with the annual India Day Parade this weekend in Middlesex County.

    When is the NJ India Day Parade?

    This year's India Day Parade, organized by the Indian Business Association, will be held Sunday, Aug. 11 in Edison.

    The 20th annual parade will feature actor and film producer Sonu Sood as the grand marshal and actress and singer Sonal Chauhan as a special guest, celebrating India's 77th year of independence, according to the parade's Facebook page.

    The event also will include a news conference at 1 p.m. sharp. Participants are asked to be there by 12:30 p.m. for networking and socializing before the road is closed.

    The parade also will include Indian cultural and Bollywood dances, marching groups and children's performances. The event can attract about 45,000 people and 100 organizations.

    When: Sunday, Aug. 11.

    Where: Parade will start around 2 p.m. on Cinder Road and Oak Tree Road in Edison and travel east on Oak Tree Road to the Iselin section of Woodbridge and end at the Chowpatty Restaurant.

    Hours: News conference starts at 1 p.m., parade around 2 p.m.

    Traffic details: Oak Tree Road will be closed from about 1:45 until 4:30 p.m. between Farmhaven and Wood avenues with local traffic only between Grove and Farmhaven avenues, Edison police said.

    In Woodbridge traffic maintenance will detour traffic with barricades along Oak Tree Road to Route 27, Wood Avenue, New Dover Road and Middlesex Avenue. Additional barricades will be set up at the intersections along LaGuardia Avenue, Route 27, Wood Avenue and Oak Tree Road. Information: Indian Business Association
