FLEMINGTON – Two former NFL stars will be coming to the borough on Saturday to renew their professional rivalry at the first Battle of I-95 Fan Fest.

Former New York Giants running back Ottis Anderson and former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Hugh Douglas will be at the free event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Stangle Road between Flemington DIY and Lone Eagle Brewing.

The event will be featured on Philadelphia and New York radio stations, WIP and WFAN. Anderson and Douglas will serve as team captains for fan challenges.

The event will also feature contests, games, trivia, raffle prizes, a 579 Trail tailgate cook-off and a race between two goats, one wearing Giants gear and the other wearing Eagles gear.

The Fan Fest highlights Hunterdon County's unique location equidistant between the two NFL teams.

"We're as much Philly sports-oriented as we are New York sports-oriented," Robin Lapidus, executive director of the Flemington Community Partnership, told the Borough Council on Monday. "Some listen to Philly radio and television stations and some listen to New York stations."

“Hunterdon County sits at the nexus of the New York and Philadelphia sports markets, making it a unique crossroads where the two cities’ markets converge, offering the best of both worlds to sports fans," said Hunterdon County Commissioner Susan Soloway. "Bringing Philadelphia and New York football fans together fosters a sense of community and sportsmanship."

The event will also put Flemington's Stangl Arts & Cultural District again in the spotlight, a week after hosting the successful seventh annual Corn, Tomato, and Beer Festival.

“The Stangl Arts & Cultural District is a colorful farm-to-festival event location, featuring repurpose railroad buildings and an iconic pottery factory," Lapidus said. "Our events bring a high-spirited community who love to celebrate outdoor events all year-round. We are thrilled to partner with the county to bring new audiences to our streets."

Business participating in the Fan Fest include Lone Eagle Brewing, Gorgeous Goat Creamery, Bobolink, Blue Moon Farm, Haring Family Farm, Bread & Culture, Cabbage Throw Farm, 55 Main Café at HealthQuest, Humdoo Ice Cream and other Stangle Road businesses.
