Colorado Parks and Wildlife is looking for feedback from the public on a five-year plan to improve and sustain its outdoor recreation programs. Goals in the plan include mostly general concepts, like creating programs so “all Coloradans and visitors have access to and opportunity for sustainable outdoor recreation” and directing more financial resources to recreation and conservation programs.

Milliken Police Officer Cleared Of Criminal Wrongdoing In Teen’s Shooting
A Milliken police officer has been cleared of any criminal charges in connection with the shooting of a teenager last month. That determination was made by Weld County DA Michael Rourke who issued his decision in a press release Wednesday. Authorities say on June 3rd, 18 year old Colin Brixius called police to say he was in front of Milliken Middle School and told police to come get him. Upon an officer’s arrival, Brixius reportedly began to run at the officer with a large knife in hand, prompting the officer to first deploy his Taser, which had no effect, and then to fire five rounds. Brixius was released from the hospital July 11, and booked into the Weld County Jail on charges of first-degree assault on a public official and felony menacing.
New scholarship launches this fall
A locally-driven scholarship may be of interest to local seniors starting September. The Michael E. McGoldrick Scholarship launches this fall, granting $100,000 to three students across Colorado and Washington state in four years at college. It’s designed — by Roaring Fork Valley locals — to help catch the students who may still have a financial need but won’t qualify for the cutoffs set by some other scholarships.
