2024 marks 100th anniversary of an iconic Big Ten football moment
The year 2024 means that an epic college football feat and an iconic Big Ten football moment are 100 years old. It was in 1924 that one of the greatest college football players of all time — quite possibly the greatest Big Ten football player who ever lived — produced a titanic performance on a big stage. Grange and Illinois faced Fielding Yost’s Michigan Wolverines in a battle of two Big Ten teams which both went 8-0 in 1923 and did not play each other that season. These were two giants who met to settle a score. Memorial Stadium in Champaign...
Illinois Attorney General defends gun ban with reference to attempted assassination of former president
(The Center Square) – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said the attempted assassination of former President Trump demonstrates why the state’s gun ban should remain in place. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that Illinois’ ban is ‘highly suspect because it broadly prohibits common semiautomatic firearms used for lawful purposes.” In a discussion at the City Club of Chicago, Attorney General Raoul questioned whether the text of the Second...

Illini guard Kylan Boswell redefining himself in return home: 'I'm gonna come out here & win for this team'
CHAMPAIGN — It's 8:30 p.m. over at the Ubben Basketball Complex and junior guard Kylan Boswell has just clocked out of his third workout of the day. Sweat drips down his remade frame as he steps off the court with assistant coach Geoff Alexander. Everywhere Boswell looks, he sees support but also accountability. He wanted that and knew he needed it after a sophomore season at Arizona that started feverishly (12 points, 8 rebounds & 5 assists at No. 2 Duke in mid-November), but then turned into an up-and-down ride before flaming out in postseason play (4 points or less in four of five games).

Illinois Basketball: Why Cayden Boozer is a Strong Fit
Most recently, Illiniinquirer.com’s Derek Piper, reported that Illinois basketball has started recruiting 5-star point guard, Cayden Boozer. The 19th-ranked prospect in the class of 2025 would be a strong fit for Illinois Basketball. Boozer is the son of former NBA all-star Carlos Boozer and is one of the top point guards in the class of 2025. Though it is late in the recruiting cycle, Boozer has made rather favorable comments regarding Illinois basketball. He complimented the recent NBA talent that the Illini has helped harness. In fact, he even referenced former Illinois basketball legend, Deron Williams, as a player he likes to study.

By the time I finally delivered a stack of 88 copies of the July 17 edition of the Ford County Chronicle to the first of our 16 newsstands late Thursday night, I had driven more than 300 miles over the previous five hours, stopping only briefly at my destination on the other side of the state — the Jacksonville Journal-Courier’s printing press in historical downtown Jacksonville — to pick up the 1,300 copies of the Chronicle that they printed so graciously earlier that evening, saving our Wednesday paper from being yet another day late.
